History:
.Tears can't Bring you back.
Spiralling towards the earth white flakes fell upon the backs of equines stretched in a long line moving stiffy across the plain. Dails tucked to their torsos fighting the wind that grew into a gale. Tassals and flags where whiped around like threads of string. Harks were all pinned in frustration and pools where dull. Muscles tired and weary from the travel. In the lead stood a white stallion tall and proud. His pelt blending into the scenery around him. Large prints showed his movements as he lead the weary equines on. Silloutes traveled after their puppeteers. Limbs moved mechanically like a well oiled clock. The stag paused to obsever the harems work as they plowed through snow up to their pillars. Four horses began to fall behind. Turning slowly he faced the black and white mare. She had slunk up behind him. How she did that even he would never know. Facades faced briefly before she nodded. With a quick burst of speed she bolted to lead the herd. He watched her remebering the day he meet his lead. It was spring as he two-beated near the edge of the forest. A flicker caught his attention as a black and white mare grazed near the trees. Harks were flung forth to see if she would take notice. Her apex was lifted gracefully and turned to face him. Zenith himself was stunned and took a few paces towards the mare. Something glimmered in her eyes as she pinned harks and pulled back velvety kissers to reveal her pearls. Away with you Exile!!She screamed and stamped her flint. Whipcord was lashed back and forth angrily as she stared him down. Zenith was amazed at her courage to stand up to him even though he was no exile. I be Rebel dame. My name is Zenith. She relaxed slightly muscles untensing and whipcords going still. Velvets pulled themselves back to touch and harks were forth. Sorry...you can't be too sure...Zenith my name is Aurora. She coeed in sweet tender lyrics. Zenith looked at the mare fondly and both silently knew what the other was thinking. Like a bond that had always been there. I'm still looking for a lead.Zenith sang back. Is that an invitation to join you and be lead? If so yes. Her voice was warm and filled the air. Zenith nodded and both four beated off on light flints to see the herd. Shaking out of his memory Zenith turned to herd those who where stragling back. Muscles bunched underneath him proppelling him over the icy snow. His pelt was wet from the melting flakes and ice formed on the end of his flags. Frigid cold began to set in all around the horses. The moved closer together to keep warm but were being driven by the black and white dame. He moved around the four stragglers nipping their sides. One damsel hobbled forth on three pillars, the fourth bleeding from ice. The other three trotted after her. He followed a little slower but caught them anyways. Not paying attention he trailed the harem. The harem stopped and he ran into the dame. She turned to look and he back up. Apex was held at a curios angle as Zenith made his way around the herd. Hind flints stamped the flakes on the topography in irritation. Dials that were once stationary where flung high and pools where wide. Zenith froze once he got a good look. Portals feasted upon a large ice sheet it was thick then it grew thin. A quick check was run over the herd. Everyone...except..Aurora!! Turning to look back at the ice is his heart stopped. The little dame began to pick her way slowly across. Looking for the best place to cross. Cries where strangled in Zenith's larynx. Moon and Night washed dame turned to give the herd the signal to move. One flint...just one flint struck a thin sheet of ice. Cracks shot across dart to and fro having a blast. Fear flickered behind Aurora's portals. Her dial was brought to her torso and a nervous cry was emitted. Harks caught the cry and pillars bgan to work. He wasn't thinking no at the least. He only wanted to save his lead. One massive flint one the ice sheet, more cracks darted. This time they looked at each other fear in both pools. Zenith's larynx finally emmited the strangulated cry. By then the ice shattered. The harem wheeled around and galloped off. But Zenith stood rooted to the spot. The Dame fell under and he paced the litho. I Must save her! He thought. Her small refined dail was barely above the liquid. Nares flared to puff out what slipped in. Pillars began to churned the crystal clear water. But the temperature and fatigue set in. She shivered and slowly fell under. Zenith trotted in a few paces and stopped. Her body was carried further from him. Cries escaped his mug as he wheeled back on land. Racing the river he galloped recklessly. Flints clinging on the flakes. More flurries flung in the air. His flags streamed out behind him in neat tufts that where strewn in the air. He stopped as the river fed into a waterfall and carried his lead away. The world crashed down on him as the stag realized that the herd had not followed. Wheeling he bounded off to search for them. Wolf howls errupted and made his skin shiver. He came to the spot Aurora fell in. Only four stayed stationary. The one mare with the hurt pillar, a small grey dame with deep lipid pools, a black dame witha tall build, and a tri colored dame with a long flowing banner that draped over her shoulder. Muscles shivered as they hudled closer. They needed shelter and quick. Gale blew flakes into the azure lifting his flag back to where he had followed the river. Could she be watching me know? He thought looking to the sky for a sign that Aurora was up there watching his move. Stiffy and weary limbs jumped to life moving mechanically forth. The dames followed him as he lead them back along the rushing icy river. As he neared the falls to his left bushes rustled and a yearling colt leapt out. His eyes where wide with fear as he danced on stiff pistons. The Herds Gone! He cried. Zenith stepped over to him and nuzzled his shoulder. Help find shelter! We'll look in the morning.
Stag lead them further alongside the rivers water only to stop once again at the waterfall. Pools where looking for any thiny detail that he might have missed. Then he spotted it...a small path that lead down into the waterfall. It was a big risk that he would take. Carefully picking his way down, the dames and colt followed behind him. The path was slick with ice and water whitch made it hard for flints to balance themselves upon the ledge. Limbs worked mechanically and carried their masters further alongside the falls. The spray dampened their freezing wrapings making them shiver. The roar filled thier hark. Soon it was over and they where standing in a cave hidden behind the waterfall.
It was slightly damp and but anazingly warm to the equines. They huddled in a big group near the back. And they drifted into sleep. They had no dreams but slept fitfully and the next morning when the sun rose up high in the azure the snow and ice unthawed. But not enough. Zenith told the mares to stay put and along with the colt he went to find the rest of the herd.
